Business as Usual at Elle: Skinny Trumps Smart

In Elle’s “Fashion Know-It-All,” July, Anne Slowey once again offers her inimitable brand of advice:

Whatever you do, wear a pair of towering platforms…You may feel a bit dizzy from traipsing through the upper atmosphere, but it’s much better to have a bubblehead than a bubble butt.

Oh, sure, it’s far better to be perceived as stupid than to be perceived as fat.

Really, bubbleheads have nothing to worry about—they can wear the latest trends, of course, and no matter how long they’ve had their heads in the “upper atmosphere,” they still have plenty of career opportunities. In fact, we can think of at least one who has her own column in Elle.
